Lewis Black on what the US isn't...

I've posted this before but in light of the Republicans' attitude..it bears repeating. That said, I wished Obama would not act like this is the greatest country on earth because that is plain pandering..there's no such utopia..I know. I've lived in a few places...

i know- but most folks haven't. americans have been brainwashed for decades to believe that this country is the best and brightest of any other country in the world. trust me- it is smart that he does pander a bit because most have forgotten the rethug attack on his patriotism at the start of the campaign. he even wears a lapel pin now too :)

the bottom line is this- people need something to believe in- i have had to accept this. most choose to believe in fairytales aka religion but we have large swaths of the population believing that the democrats are going to save this country. if it gets the rethugs out of power for awhile- let 'em have it.

The United States of America is the worst country I've ever lived in. Let me repeat, the United States is the greatest country I have ever lived in. I think that bears reiterating: The United States of America is the ONLY country I have ever lived in.

If Obama doesn't talk that talk, he will not get elected and we will be stuck with someone else just because they will. Same for religion. You must love God and Country to the exclusion of all others.

If I didn't love Austin so much I would be thinking about moving to where the health care system is better... which includes lots of countries.

I have lived in the USA, Greece, and in Hawaii before it was a state (I guess it was a territory or something like that), and living internationally gives you a whole new perspective on the world, and on America as well.
