Lasagna Gardening part 1

Patricia Lanza
Before I get all the stuff together to make the layers of this sheet composting (aka lasagna gardening), let me see if I can give you a preview of what it is supposed to look like.
Alright, found a site where they go over it step by step:

starting the first layer with garden refuse.

I've been offered materials and I will go around to ask the nearby Starbucks and Scooters for their coffee grinds. I just had the bright idea to ask the two nearby grocery stores for their cut up veggies..
To be continued...

Ingrid, that looks so cool. I've recently rediscovered how much I enjoyed cooking for myself and others. What are you going to grow?

Robster, I should do a post on what I intend to grow. I am going to try out companion planting including using herbs and flowers for minimizing/warding off bugs and such. Hey..your name shows up in blue, does that mean you're online in the blogosphere again?!! I'll check it out. And I bet you love to cook (for others, ha!).. I might have to ask you for some favourite recipes now the weather is getting warmer again ..
good to see you buddy! as always.

Hi Ingrid, I found your site doing a search for Lasagna Garden method. I am a Carleton student (Social Work). I am a bit jealous that you get to live where it is warm! It seems like we had snow two weeks ago. Gardening season is way too short in Ottawa.

Hey Julia, welcome! Never had the pleasure of a Carleton compatriot visiting! You're taking Social Work? How many more years? Is it undergrad or grad? I was just inspecting my two gardens and my one lasagna garden is growing out of style! I hear your pain; the only thing you can really grow in Ottawa are tomatoes and some other veggies but I did not try those when I still lived there. I guess pumpkins are out of order!! lol
Through one of my friends from Constance Bay do I get the scoop on Ottawa weather. That and my yahoo page where I have a weather blurb from cities in Canada, US and the Netherlands. Somehow knowing the weather makes it seem closer, don't ask!
I just got a new digital camera which I have to figure out how to use and then I'll try to post before and after pics of my lasagna gardens next week,
have a good weekend and thx for visiting!
