The Texas Governor's Debate October 6th/2006

Lovelies, in my other blogging life, I am a volunteer for Independent Texans and for a few months I promised/offered to help out with their blog. Someone moved it from Blogger to Wordpress and I am (still) not too Wordpress savvy, (hate the template they picked oh well) but we're getting closer and closer to our Governor's election time. Pls check out the link and roam around the site. If you want to leave a comment by the way, I haven't figured it out how to allow that. I thought I changed the setting to not moderate, but I'll have to call the techie volunteer to walk me through that one. This election is important as Perry has been making deals for the Trans Texas Corridor (Nafta highway anyone? Cheaper goods coming in from China bypassing Mexico leaving the latter just a wee bit more poor), and Strayhorn has been fighting it, not just in name denouncing it, but showing up on meetings and gatherings all over Texas. Also, big issue (for me) is the imposed toll roads by Campo. We're not talking toll roads on new roads that were built to alleviate congestion, but existing in city roads that have no viable alternatives, actively taxing people (people who can't afford it) twice. Check it out.

Ingrid’s postings are views to take heed
In a sea of Texan red, plants her Austin blue seed.
Democrat’s policy she mightily prefers
Calls for new policies, banish fear and despair

Her arguments persuasive, opens your mind
Like flavours of produce from perma cultural kind
Always clear reasoning is her political dissent
Prescriptions to change a bloggers voter’s intent

I don't understand anything in Texan politics.
A few user interface notes:

It would be more user friendly to open the blog in the same window.
In the blog, add links back to the homepage of http://www.indytexans.org/ on the top and on the bottom.

Thx for the tip Yohay even though I do not quite understand it. I'll have to mention it to the techie who' helping out with the blog (and who's responsible for putting it on Wordpress) and I'm sure he'll understand it! Will try to work more on that blog tomorrow..
thx again, slowly but surely, I'll become more technical..slowly being the operative word!

Thanks Robster. I would love to change the template but I'm so chickenbleep in doing anything with that site! It looks so different (the administration of it) than blogger. It makes blogger definitely look like blogging for dummies. I just need to jump into it and start sprucing it up; blogroll (I know! haven't got my own up even tss..), different template, sitemeter, snazzier posts ..figuring out how to 'unmoderate' the comments so I can have people post..you know, the usual! Thx for stopping by to take a look at it and feel free to suggest any improvement/change..
btw..saw you had your comment section open for business, are you feeling 'lucky'? Or is it not close enough to the election?

I've decided the heck with it. I just won't have the time to moderate anything that's on there. I'll be concentrating on sports and my next novel. That's right, I'll be writing another one in early November and I'll be posting more on it during this month.

Didn't you find it interesting that Perry would only agree to the debate on a Friday night. During high school football season. In Texas. Says it all.

It was pretty obvious indeed but inspite of that, and inspite of the media mentioning it (but not criticizing), everyone just accepted nonchalantly.. on Perry's website, they claim he won the debate. Well, I guess for the yokels who did not watch and couldn't be bothered, that's all they need to read. At this point, with some of the most important issues that have faced Texans in a long time, if you are still intending to vote Republican, you are either lazy, blinded by personal issues like abortion, gay marriage (and yes, do they ever threaten family values, never mind your posted long record!! bravo again), and the types of Christian that leaves their brain at the door of the church, refusing to think and use their brain. There seem to be too many of those here in TX!
