If only our 'leader' would be so honest..

Olmert Accepts Blame For Operation's 'Failings' excerpt:
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Monday acknowledged mistakes in the war against Hezbollah as the Israeli government confronted widespread criticism and political recriminations over the conflict.

"There have been failings and shortcomings," Olmert, with deep circles under his eyes and a haggard look on his face, told a special session of the Israeli parliament. "We need to examine ourselves in all aspects and all areas. We will not sweep anything under the table, we will not hide anything. We must ensure that next time things will be done better."

So will America's encouragement of the whole war come out in this as well? Olmert in my opinion does not bare the sole responsibility..

In one word, no.

I do not expect the chickenhawks and their cheerleaders to stand against their critics. They never do.

Knowing Mr. Olmert (not in person) for some time, I'm afraid that these words might come instead of a real investigation.
Of course, his defense minister, the army, and the civil system also failed too many times during the war.

Yohay, it's never one person but a slew of people that are responsible of something. At NASA, when the accident happened recently, they found that there still was a certain managerial environment where 'underlings' could not question someone's decision. I imagine that that kind of environment must exist in political circles as well, especially when the prevailing attitudes are intolerant of critiques.
