McCain Gets a 'D' from Vets Group

"Sen. John McCain may be the combat veteran and son and grandson of admirals, but he rates only a D when it comes to supporting veterans issues, according to the "Congressional Report Card" just issued by the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.

Sen. Barack Obama is no veteran, but his votes in the U.S, Senate over the past year earned him a B, says IAVA executive director Paul Rieckhoff"

Btw..."McCain was one of only four senators to make the D list. The others are Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, Michael Enzi of Wyoming and Jim DeMint of South Carolina."

  1. So much for veterans knowing that McCain will take care of them.

  2. Ah well, here's a little good news. He demonstrated the worst elements of his character the moment he chose her as running mate.

  3. I would have voted for McCaine eight years ago, to prevent Bush from taking the tiller.
But that is not how it stands now.

I am still working on the quest of "summertime" by J.F. - will find it eventually if it makes a difference to you through the pirated pages of uTorrent. Must say though, Janis Joplin's "Summertime" is my personal favorite!

  4. me too Zee (love Joplin's cover of "Summertime"). but then, I don't remember a Feliciano version, so maybe I shouldn't judge til I do.

anyway, the minute a politician like McCain professes to "always love the vets and keep them close to his heart" is the time to wonder what he's trying to run from? so no surprise he gets the "D" rating. And I think the other four D-listers are also repub. They only love the vets for what value they can wring out of them come election time.

BTW, how you doing, Ingrid? Recovered yet? Hope so!

  5. Ruth, I think a lot of vets have had 8yrs to figure out who really is on their side. When you look at the 'report card', it is thank goodness still a mix of dems and reps who got their good grades. There are still some people who give cause for faith in good conscience.
Susan, 'Maria', mentioned to me that she thinks McCain is seriously having ptsd problems and when one has had problems all throughout adult life (such as ptsd) but suppressed it or not properly dealt with it, it's bound to come out full force when you get older. But then, that's my layman's thoughts on that!
Zee..apparently Gary has heard of (the song) it as well but for some reason it's been a bear finding it ANYwhere online. McCain has changed no doubt about it..it's a shame because this undoes all the good will he's created in the past (past being the operative word).
DK..thanks for asking re. the staph. It's gone and phew, thank god for friends like Enigma. I really attribute my getting better faster by suggesting going to the ER because 'that' made world of difference. I hope likewise that your shingles will go away sooner than later although I have absolutely no idea how long these outbreaks can last. Hang in there girl!! And if I ever find that jose feliciano's version..I'll try my best to post it because I think it's (obviously) a great one.
