Check out Paul Newman's biography. Paul and his wife Joanne Newman dedicated their lives to giving to charity with his organic product line "Newmans' Own". It is still successful. They also have their own non-profit camps. A classy actor from a classier time in Hollywood. He DEFINITELY did not fail to communicate.
A Paul Newman tribute
I just heard about this about an hour ago when I woke up. I'm incredibly sad over his loss.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Ingrid that was pretty good! As a couple Joanne and Pail donated over $200 million. He was quite a person. RIP!
ReplyDeleteIngrid I hope your elbow feels better!
Very sad to lose Paul Newman. We always buy his pasta sauce, and none other. Good man, wonderful actor.
ReplyDeleteA green salad just isn't a green salad for me without his balsamic vinaigrette.
ReplyDeleteHe was a great man and will be missed by many.
Jannie, silly me. For a second I thought, 'what green salad??'
ReplyDeletebut yes, him and his wife were not only a solid couple, but great philantropists and on both acounts, great examples. It must be very difficult to lose your partner after so many years of marriage..
Ingrid
I've had my guy for 18 years now and he grows more precious to me each day -- even when we squabble. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose him.
ReplyDeleteHave their been any other Hollywood marriages to last as long as Newman / Woodward I wonder?
J.
OMG, those eyes! They broke the mold with that man. I guess everyone has their own favorite Newman movie. For me, it's Butch Cassidy. For my hub, it's Cool Hand Luke.
ReplyDeleteCool hand Luke! I hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteDK, he definitely stood out with those eyes and demeanor. And Jim, this would be 'cool arm Ingrid' :)
ReplyDeletelater tonight I'll write my update. This afternoon I have another follow up with the doc at the ER (he was so good, really took good care of me) and most likely, I'll have to come back for a recheck in another two days.
Thanks for checking. The swelling is still going down so I'm hopeful. The 'natives' (kids) are obviously affected by not having me around and hardly getting any physical contact. I'm missing it too, we're a pretty physical and affectionate family.

ReplyDeletePaul Leonard Newman
January 26 1925; September 26 2008
He was a quiet, private, Man
But, a giant, amongst the stars
A philanthropist to millions
And owned and drove racecars.
He was a producer and director
And an actor, beyond, compare
He won almost every award
A great talent, one, so rare.
His great films will last forever
For, new generations to see
And he will always be with us
In the pages, of our history.
He always said, he was just lucky
But, it was us, who were blessed
For, while he was in this World
He passed almost every, Earthly test.
The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp
Serving, those Children who are ill
Where they could have fun, just be a Kid
One of those dreams, he did fulfill.
He was a family man, first of all
Married to Joanne fifty years
And he has left, each one of us
Filled, with memories, grief, and tears.
Survived by Joanne and five Daughters
His Son, Scott, he’s gone to see
He’s broken the bounds of this Earth
And from his suffering, set free.
He’s gone, to a much better place
And, I’ll bet he’s looking down
With sparkling eyes, and famous grin
And saying, “I’ll always be around!”
Rest in Peace, Paul.

there is a Foundation that will be set up in his name Hole In the Wall Gang Camps are so amazing and they are around the world...
it's hard not to admire Paul Newman for putting his money to work in such productive ways, such as his Newman's Own line--high quality stuff and the proceeds go to good causes... very smart.
