Changing SOMEthing

Some of my blogger buddies are constantly changing the look of their site (you know who you are), and some stick to their tried and true formula. I've been wanting to change something about the site but am not quite sure what. I have been toying with the idea of changing the name and of course also the look. I need some input guys..what would you suggest I'd change? Keep or leave out? Or add? Don't feel shy and don't worry about hurting my feelings.. I need feedback 'ya'll'!
thanks

    Guilty as charged. LOL!!

In my defense, I'm the kind of person who doesn't like things to go stale. LiveJournal has its limitation, but if I knew CSS and had the patience to construct a template, I'd create one from scratch. Otherwise, I'm always compromising something with each template change.

Ingrid, in your case, maybe you might want to explore some of the preset templates that come with Blogger. Or if you're daring, visit a blog called Beautiful Beta. Remember the last template I had before I left Blogger for LJ? That's where I found it.

  3. anything in black, use a preset, than mess/experiment with it, like any good recipe, requires personal touch. =)

  4. Hi Ingrid

Rather than comment on a number of your past posts and this one I will do so here together, I hope you don’t mind. !

Firstly I think Blogs are a matter of personal taste, I associate you with your political interest, sensitivity and European Dutch background. For your information I don’t see the need for you to change your format.
You could change your Template fairly easily. But those that do seem to spend a lot of time and effort rectifying subsequent problems!!

Your 2 children look delightful, amazing the difference in personalities!! It’s always surprising the diversity in outlook of one’s children!!

    The God Delusion
Most people of a thinking faith don’t share that image he portrays of a God.
Dawkins discredits an image of God, a fatally flawed fundamentalist one from Biblical texts. Scholars consider the texts represent mixtures of poetry, myth and revelation as interpreted by a particular culture. Christens didn’t share that fundamentalist view anymore than he does.

Dawkins like many atheists fails to advance any serious philosophical objections to one holding a faith in a transcendent God by virtue of a moral necessity, to give meaning to ones life!

Religion is an imaginative servant to philosophy and I would encourage you to think about it in that way.

And if you take spirituality to meam the non physical, conclusions about our spirituality (our relationship in the non physical) are in that sense a separate way of thinking about an unknown. That is all religions attempts to do.

Most new age spiritualists are enthusiastically inclined towards what is in non descript, unable to tell you what is or to articulate it in any philosophical debate.

Most of religion is a mystery, we don’t have the answers, and it arose from the ancient philosophers, the scientists of that day who pondered the heavens for answers. Its only of recent times we have separated and segmented into Science as prior to that it was all considered philosophy. Science and religion remain today, (as they always were)the tools of philosophy.

    Best wishes

  5. le.voyageur... black is such a forboding colour! But I see what you're saying. If you're computer savvy, or webchanging savvy, it could be a fun thing to do but I'm afraid I'm not THAT good, ha! Thanks for the thought though, as always, I'll keep it on the backburner.
Lindsay, I am on my way out but THANK YOU for your thoughtful and wise response. Especially regarding the religion part. You are infinitely wiser than me and hence, I just put things out there in the hopes of great thought provoking pearls of wisdoms and insight from others. You made some very excellent points that I will be thinking about some more. Moments like these make me wish we would all be closer and available for a real kaffee klatch to talk about stuff like this! Thank you again.. and oh, thx for the kind words re. your visits to my 'but a humble blog' . I do want to write about other topics but as you know and understand, my time constraints are too many at the moment..

You do have this template for a long long time. Changing it would sure be refreshing.
To make things easy, I would go with one of the ready made templates that are available with Blogger. I don't know Blogger at all (I use Wordpress).
    A few of my tips:
    - Stick to a white background.
    - Shorten the long list on right side.
    - If there's an option for pages: Make a long about page, and leave a short description on the home page. Additional possible pages: Links to blogs, Links to organizations, etc.
    - If you can put a picture / icon in the header, it would be great. Something suitable would resemble the original "round table".
    - Add a footer that would include links : Back to top, about page, something else.

    I hope that I've helped.

  7. Yohay, that was VERY helpful. Now Wordpress I believe allows you to do a bit more than blogger but I'm trying to get familiar with the beta blogger feature. I started making some changes so thx for the great input. I'll try to learn a bit more html this week so I can fiddle around with the template myself..

  8. btw yohay, the profile line cannot be shortened. You'd think because it says 'view complete profile' that you will see a longer version of the 'about me'. Not so, however short or long your 'about me'..it will show on this page. On blogger we do not have additional pages to our disposal.
