Light fare...

I am a thinker. I am in my head when I clean house and do the mundane things in life that do not require close attention, and when I listen to music. When I write, I need silence, when I listen to music, my mind processes and sorts, sees images, snippets of stories in my head of what I want to post, or how I would want to write my screenplay. This is what I am currently listening to, when no one's at home and I have an hour to get in my 'space':
Om Kalthoum -Anta Omri
Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
Deep Forest -
Eddie Palmieri- Ritmo Caliente
Status Quo- 12 Golden Bars

What are you listening to these days?

These days I'm mostly listeneing to the radio, but usually:

Pink Floyd - Pulse (live concert) for calming down.
Radiohead and Smiths (not something specific): when I'm depressed.
Zero 7 - Simple Things: for a good mood.
Blues music (Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, etc.) when I need to be concentrated.

  2. Yohay, interesting collection. You're right about the mood aspect. I am kinda restless lately so my brain needs to 'think'. When I do listen to classical music, it tends to be the fast type that I like as well. Speaking of blues, this (Austin) being a city of live music and the adopted home town of Stevie Ray Vaughn (rip), we do get a good dose of him on one of the stations..

  4. Led Zeppelin. I suddenly had the urge to listen to them this afternoon while I was blogging. Tonight, something more somber. I just found out about Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin's death this evening (Monday afternoon in AU) and I don't feel like writing much.

have a listen, change the knob at the top of the screen to hear more from this Welsh mezzo soprano sensation !!From a humble choir to living the dream, a few short steps. you might find her voice vibrant and beautiful.

But if you like bass baratones, then who can compare with Bryn Terfel.
Sure to get you into the mood for thinking.

But in my opinion the world's greatest Lieder singer' is the exquisite ... Fischer-Dieskau, Dietrich- the great German baritone. If you dont like his singing , you dont like icreceam ! his phrasing and sense of rytham is simply amazing

Of the Tenors Pavarotti, Carrera and Placido Domingo all good and bound to stir the emotions, And not forgetting Australia's own Joan Sutherland.

    Best wishes
