What can we do to stop the terrorizing of Gaza's citizens?
UPDATE: I had to post this last picture before going to bed. The mom in me has been feeling pangs in my heart looking at this all afternoon..
Thanks for posting these photos Ingrid. They are awful, but people need to know that this is not just a bunch of noise and words - people are ruined.
ReplyDeleteAs for what to do, sometimes I take action through Amnesty on this issue, but of course, until the US, Europe and Russia pressure the Israelis to behave differently and really push for peace...we're left with this mess.
I got into some emotional posting over at Mahmoud's Den and the Heretical Jew blogs and I thought, man..this is getting to me. As if this has not been going on for the last 50yrs...tsss
ReplyDeleteI figured pictures tell a better story than mere words. One of the pictures on the Rafah site is one of two kids leaning against a building with obviously something very scary going on and it almost makes me cry to see the little boy in the front crying with a tear going down his little cheek. As a mom, I get very angry over this collective punishment nonsense. It is shameful, spiritually, morally and politically.
Ingrid
Ingrid, I agree with you. Someone needs to sit the Palestinians and the Israelis down and tell them we are all going to take their children away from them for child abuse if they do not make peace with one another and get their children out of this hate environment and, for God's sake, quit using them to further their selfish agendas. They actually teach these children in schools, camps, TV shows, etc., to hate from day-one, and until they start with one generation, raising them with love, and until all others start pointing their fingers at both of these people and not just one, they will never have peace.
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo frustrating. One of my best friends is Lebanese and his family fled in the early 80's. I was going to call him first thing in the morning and now we're likely going to have something else to talk about.
ReplyDeleteWell done for posting these Ingrid. And it's not only mothers who weep when they see these images.
ReplyDeleteIt's beyond belief what's being done to these people. And Bush - a supposed Christian - says, "Israel has a right to defend herself" and says nothing to condemn this.
It makes me so angry I want to vomit.
KT, these strikes were in supposed retaliation of the abduction of soldiers (read interview post I did on friday), not the killing of Israeli civilians. That is the point of the outrage of these attacks; disproportionate and a pretext for dismantling the Hamas government (who did not sanction the abduction)... If it was in retaliation to a suicide bomber or something, that would have been the expected response..
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you thought that it will take a concerted effort on all sides to stop violence ones and for all. I also believe that Israel need shoulders a lot of the blame for many a reason and that the sole reason for this situation not to have been resolved years ago is the enabling by the American government who had their own motives to keep the situation 'as is'.
Ingrid
KT, I'm afraid we will have to agree to disagree and I thank you for saying that. It's easy to continue to try to make someone understand (read, accept!) your/one's viewpoint but it's one that comes by reading thinking and not by getting it shoved down your throat.
ReplyDeleteMash...the lack of outrage as usual here to me stems from sheer disassociation. How much can people relate to anything really tragic, or frightening like military strikes, here in this country? Those who claim 9/11 was a big disaster and worthy of feeling victimized have absolutely no idea how it ranges on the scale of communal fear...it would be a very low number.
speaking of children, my daughter is demanding my attention..
Ingrid
